Port Byron Clinic Adds Two New Providers

November 5, 2020

NEW PROVIDERS JOINING HAMMOND-HENRY HOSPTIAL MEDICAL GROUP – PORT BYRON

(Port Byron, Ill.) Hammond-Henry Hospital Medical Group – Port Byron is increasing the number of providers this month.  The clinic, located at 105 N. Main St, will add Katie Sowder, APN and Heather Hall, APN to the list of providers beginning November 16.   Both Sowder and Hall will see patients at the Port Byron clinic two days a week. These two providers have worked at Hammond-Henry Hospital Urgent Care Clinics and will continue to support those clinics when not in Port Byron.  The clinic will continue to offer urgent care and appointments for new family medicine, pediatric patients and established patients.   The clinic also offers COVID-19 testing by appointment only.

Additionally, Julie Brown, M.D. will continue to see patients at the Port Byron office and expand her office hours to two days per week. Dr. Brown will also see patients in Geneseo three days a week. Kari Dodds, D.O. is relocating with her family out of state. The organization extends our gratitude for her time with the clinics and providing great patient care. Patients of Dr. Dodds can expect to be contacted from the Port Byron office to schedule with a new provider.  Alternatively, patients may call the clinic directly.

Both Dr. Julie (Riewerts) Brown and Katie (Battern) Sowder, grew-up in the Port Byron community and are enthusiastic about providing healthcare to the community that helped shape them.  Dr. Brown has been with the clinic in Port Byron since its inception in January 2020.  Katie Sowder has been with the hospital since 2012. Most recently, Sowder was co-leader of the Hammond-Henry Hospital Drive-thru COVID-19 testing clinic in Geneseo, an important undertaking to help fight the pandemic.  Originally from Oklahoma, Heather Hall moved to the Quad Cities in 2012, which is where she continues to reside.  She worked as an emergency room RN before becoming a nurse practitioner in July 2019. All three providers are accepting new patients and are looking forward to providing healthcare to the Port Byron community.

Dr. Donald Ford, Hammond-Henry Hospital Urgent Care Medical Director and Clinical Administrative Liaison states, “Hammond-Henry Hospital has been pleased to initiate local healthcare to the Port Byron community and surrounding area, and we have appreciated the community’s support of these efforts.  With Dr. Dodds’ relocating, we want to be sure we are able to continue providing the high-quality care the Port Byron area deserves and has come to expect.  The addition of Katie Sowder and Heather Hall to the practice in addition to the current practice of Dr. Julie Brown will accomplish that nicely. Katie and Heather are experienced, quality providers with whom I believe the community will be well pleased.”

Appointments can be scheduled by calling 309-523-2015.  Office hours are Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
