Dr. JAMES SCHRIER, FACS, MD

A Board-certified surgeon, Dr. James Schrier, FACS, performs the following general surgeries: appendectomies, bowel obstructions/resections, breast cancer care, colonoscopies, endoscopies, gall bladder removal, hemorrhoid surgeries, laparoscopic surgeries, port placements, skin cancer removal, and soft tissue mass removal. His office is found on the first floor of the hospital in Suite 110 of the Specialty Clinic.

Dr. Schrier attended the University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts, obtaining his Bachelor of Science degree, and continued his education at the University of Iowa College of Medicine for his Doctorate. He has completed residencies at the University of Iowa in general surgery and family practice. His surgical experience and interests include, but are not limited to, core general surgery, oncology, laparoscopic and advanced laparoscopic surgery, and robotic surgery with the DaVinci robot.

Hammond-Henry Hospital Orthopedic Surgeon

Dr. ryan pizinger, MD

Dr. Ryan Pizinger will offer fulltime orthopedic surgical and sports medicine services at Hammond-Henry Hospital, beginning September 22. He is currently accepting appointments and will see patients in the Specialty Clinic (Suite 110, First Floor, Hammond-Henry Hospital, Geneseo) and in the Kewanee Clinic (1258 W. South Street, Kewanee) from 8 am to noon on Tuesdays. No referrals are necessary, and appointments may be scheduled by calling 309.944.1595. A public open house is scheduled for Dr. Pizinger on October 2 from 3 to 5 pm in the hospital's dining room. All interested are invited to attend.

Dr. Pizinger has more than 20 years of experience in orthopedic surgery, and he specializes in total joint care. He is highly experienced in total joint replacement operations, including the newer anterior hip replacement techniques, sports medicine, shoulder reconstruction, and hip, shoulder, and knee arthroscopy. Prior to his appointment at Hammond-Henry Hospital, Dr. Pizinger served SSM Health Fond du Lac Regional Clinic in Wisconsin and prior to that, the Illinois Orthopedic Institute, Joliet. While in Joliet, he also served as Director of Sports Medicine for Bolingbrook and Romeoville High Schools. Dr. Pizinger currently accepts all students and other patients with sports or other hip, shoulder, and knee injuries, but he is specifically working the sidelines during football and basketball on a regular basis for Geneseo High School, Erie High School, and Riverdale High School.

A board-certified orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Pizinger completed his Fellowship in Sports Medicine from Aspen Orthopaedic Associates, CO, in 20212; his Residency in Orthopedic Surgery from Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, NH; Medical School from the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine, VA; and his Pre-Med degree from the University of Maine, where he received his Bachelor's degree in Pre-Med with minors in Microbiology and Chemistry.

Hammond-Henry Hospital Pain Management Clinic

Dr. JOHN DOOLEY, MD*

John B. Dooley, MD* is licensed to practice in Iowa, Illinois, and Florida and serves the HHH Pain Management Clinic, located on the first floor of the hospital (within the Specialty Clinic). With more than 36 years of experience, Dr. Dooley treats common conditions such as joint pain; extremity pain; neck, thoracic, and lumbar spine pain; and all forms of chronic pain (not acute post-surgical pain). Primary services include upper and lower extremity joint injections; spinal epidural steroid injections; radio frequency nerve ablation of the spine; cancer or osteoporosis vertebral fracture treatments; and medication management for pain, including cancer and opioid use disorders.

Dr. Dooley received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Iowa, Iowa City, in 1984, and completed his post-graduate training fellowship in Critical Care Medicine from University of Iowa Hospital, Iowa City in 1988. He completed his residency in Anesthesiology at Hartford Hospital, Hartford, CT in 1987. Dr. Dooley was also appointed by then-Governor Terry Branstad to serve as a State of Iowa Hospital Licensing Board Member in 2015. In addition to serving Hammond-Henry Hospital’s Pain Management Clinic, open on Tuesdays, Dr. Dooley also works with Anesthesia and Pain Consultants, PC, Davenport, IA; serves as Laboratory Director for the Anesthesia & Pain Consultants, PC; and as Medical Director and Medical Review Officer for the Alcohol & Drug Dependency Services of Southeast Iowa. At Hammond-Henry, Dr. Dooley will hold clinic hours on Tuesday morning and complete procedures on Tuesday afternoons.
