What Should I Expect?
During each visit, patients receive a full work-up and explanation of the condition based on their complaints or issues. Our providers give patients a diagnosis for their complaints, discussing all the options for treatment and giving the patient full, complete autonomy in deciding what treatment will be best for them. Patients are provided with a diagnosis and treatment plan, during which time all treatment options will be discussed — including surgery. The best option for each patient depends on their treatment goals and history. Our providers will also give their professional medical opinion when assisting the patient in deciding what treatment is best for them.
Most orthopedic and sports medicine surgeries performed at Hammond-Henry Hospital are same-day surgery, so patients are discharged home the day of surgery. Patients will start physical therapy the week after their surgery. Progression will depend on the surgery and any precautions needed to protect the area of the body that was treated. Most patients will spend several weeks to months recovering.
