Dr. Wakefield will begin her general surgical practice at Hammond-Henry Hospital on September 1. A public open house will be held in Dr. Wakefield's honor on Thursday, August 27 from 2 to 4 pm in the hospital's dining room. All interested are welcome to attend. If you are seeking general surgical services, and your insurance allows self-referral, you may set up an appointment by calling 309.944.1595. Otherwise, you will need a referral from your general practitioner. Dr. Wakefield brings more than 19 years of surgical experience, most recently serving patients at CGH Medical Center in Sterling. She has a special interest in breast surgery, breast biopsies, and wound care and will also offer thyroid surgery and biopsies plus colonoscopy and gastrointestinal procedures, hernia repairs, gallstone and gallbladder procedures, appendicitis and acute surgical care, port placements, and burn and wound management plus office visits, hospital care, and diagnostic imaging.
