The following classes are offered by Hammond-Henry Hospital.
Prepared Childbirth
Our Prepared Childbirth Class is a comprehensive class that covers prenatal health, the process of labor, coping techniques for labor, cesarean sections, newborn appearance and breastfeeding basics. Our class time will also focus on relaxation, breathing, labor positions, coping with back labor and other techniques from Penny Simkin's video "Comfort Measure for Childbirth". The class is designed for the pregnant woman and her support person and is taught on a single Saturday. It is recommended that you take the class two to six weeks before your due date. Wear comfortable clothes and bring two bed pillows. The class concludes with a tour of the Obstetrics Department. Snacks provided. Cost is $20.00. Class is held at Hammond-Henry Hospital's Northwest clinic on Saturdays from 9am-3:30pm (noon - 12:45 break for lunch).

Prepared Childbirth Refresher
Refresher course is available from 9am to noon and covers the process of labor and breathing and relaxation. The class is designed for women who have previously been through childbirth. Cost is $5.00.
Sibling Class
Children who are expecting the arrival of a new baby brother or sister are invited to attend a class designed especially for them! The hour-long class includes a tour of the Obstetrics Department, snacks, and a special project. The class if free and aimed at children 3 to 10 years old. Please have your child bring a doll or stuffed animal to the calss. Class is held in the hospital cafeteria on Saturdays from 2-3pm.

Infant Care Classes
Classes are held 6:30 - 8:30 p.m.

Enrollment
To sign up for classes, call the OB Department at 944-9165. Be prepared to give your name, address, telephone number, estimated due date, physicians and child's name and address, You will be telephoned a day or two before the class as a reminder. Tuition is payable at the start of class.
Lactation Support and Counseling
Our breastfeeding counselor is available for phone and in person consultation for mothers who have breastfeeding related questions. Using professional references and personal experiences as a guide, our counselor uses researched based advice for nursing mothers at any stage of the breastfeeding relationship. Individualized breastfeeding instruction is also available. Call the Obstetrics Department for more information.
