The state-of-the-art emergency department at Hammond-Henry Hospital is prepared to handle any medical emergency - from a cut needing stitiches to chest pain. The emergency department is staffed 24-hours a day with emergency physicians and nurses certified in advanced trauma and cardiac care. Patients are given a thorough assessment, treatment utilizing the latest technology and careful explanation of their conditions. Where needed, a smooth transition can be provided to our acute care nursing units. In the rare event that a patient's condition requires a transfer to another facility for more specialized care, ambulance or helicopter transportation puts Hammond-Henry within minutes of major medical centers.
Our home care staff brings professional healthcare servcies into your home while you recover after a hospital stay of an an alternative to hospitalization during an illness. Working under the direction of your physician, our nurses, therapists and home health aides can provide a broad range of services and assistance. These services including wound care, IV infusion therapy and telehealth monitoring, all with 24-hour on-call can enable you to enjoy the comfort and independence of remaining at home. Our home care services are available to patients of all ages and may be covered by personal insurance, Medicare or Medicaid.
Our skilled care unit specialized in restorative nursing and rehabilitation for patients whose goal is to return home. Typically, patients on the unit require skilled care after hip or knee replacement, following a stroke, or due to a generalized weakness from pneumonia or other illnesses. Medicare and other insurances may provide partial coverage for skilled care servcies for a limited time.
The long term care unit offers 24-hour nursing care for patients who are unable to remain at home or unable to return home after a skilled stay. Unlike skilled care, extended care is not covered by Medicare. Residents in long term care may need help with medications, eating, bathing and dresssing or may require other more extensive care. We have a special concern for the disabilities of the aging. Residents are encouraged to enjoy life to the fullest and are free to choose from a wide range of recreational and enrichment activities. Our nurses enjoy sharing this exciting time and witnessing the miracle of birth, which is demonstrated in the personalized care they provide.
The Birthing Center combines qualified nurses, modern technology and a unique personal touch to ensure famlies a safe and memorable birth experience. Our LDRP (labor, delivery, recovery, postpartum) suites are designed to provide a comfortable and private setting so that families can spend their entire stay in the same room. Although our suites are designed to make new mothers feel as if they were at home, state-of-the-art medical equipment and technology are always close at hand. There is a lactation counselor on staff to assist new mothers with any problems or concerns they may have with breastfeeding.
