On the move is a group exercise program for individuals who desire a weight management program and wish to pursue a healthy lifestyle. The program provides the professional guidance of a physical therapist and other health professionals and is designed to guide the client in participation in safe and effective physical activity and exercise.

Each one-hour exercise class is taught Monday and Wednesday evenings at 5:00pm by our healthcare professionals for 12 weeks. The program includes an individualized assessment, collaborative goal setting, individualized exercise instruction during group exercise sessions that address all components of physical fitness and musculoskeletal health.

You will be asked to seek medical clearance from your physician to enroll in this program.

Childbirth Education

Our Prepared Childbirth Class is a comprehensive class that covers prenatal health, the process of labor, coping techniques for labor, cesarean sections, newborn basics and breastfeeding basics. A majority of the class time focuses on relaxation, breathing, labor positions, coping with back labor and other techniques from Penny Simkin's video "Comfort Measures for Childbirth."

The class is designed for the pregnant woman and her support person(s) and is taught on a single Saturday. Each class concludes with a tour of the OB Department. The class is offered approximately every six weeks throughtout the year, to be taken in the third trimester. The cost is $20.00. To obtain a schedule call the OB Department at 944-9165.
 

Nutrition Services

Hammond Henry Hospital - offers outpatient nutrition couseling; including, weight reduction/management, diabetic education, and lowfat eating all of which are tailored to meet your specific needs. Our professional dietetic staff is availabe to provide nutrition education to all ages. Call our Clinical Dietitian to schedule an appointment at 944-4625 extension 1404. Our staff is also available to present programs to groups, clubs and other organizations.
 

Mended Hearts

Mended Hearts is a local support group that provides information and support to cardiac patients, their families and friends. Mended Hearts meets once a month. Meetings include education on a heart related topic, a brief business meeting and refreshments. There is no cost to attend the meetings. Grief Support

The support group meets the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of every month from 1:00pm - 2:00pm. Call Social Service at 944-9170 to sign up.
 

Biochemical Profile and Cholesterol Screenings

Screenings are offered in February. Health events are advertised in the newspaper as the event nears.
