November 18, 2025

The Hammond-Henry Hospital Board of Directors and Administration are pleased to announce that Dr. Chad Martens is joining the staff at its Geneseo Clinic on Monday, December 1. He is currently accepting new patients via waitlist by calling 309.944.1275. Dr. Martens joins Dr. Loren Soria, and APRNs Kati Grimes, Heidi Vorac, and Elyse Wolf as the Geneseo Clinic’s Family Practice team.

An open house in Dr. Marten’s honor is scheduled for Thursday, December 4 from 2 to 4 pm at the Geneseo Clinic, located at 600 N. College Avenue. All interested are invited and encouraged to attend. Light refreshments will be served, and there will also be small gifts for everyone in attendance.

“To best accommodate our increasing number of patients, especially in the Geneseo Clinic, we’ve been diligently looking for a physician that would best complement our already fantastic team,” said Wyatt Brieser, Hammond-Henry Hospital CEO. “We feel we have found that in Dr. Martens. Growing up in a small town (Erie), Dr. Martens expressed his desire to serve a community such as ours, and I believe he will be a very welcome addition to our staff.”

Dr. Marten’s medical specialties include family practice and specifically, chronic disease management, preventative medicine, comprehensive urgent care, and a wide range of procedures including skin biopsies/excisions and joint injections. Dr. Martens received his BA in Pre-Med from Augustana College, Rock Island. He obtained his medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine Chicago – Rockford Rural Medicine Education Program, Rockford. He completed his Family Medicine Residency at the University of Illinois College of Medicine – Rockford Rural Training Track at Katherine Shaw Bethea Hospital, Dixon.

An Erie native and graduate of Augustana College, Rock Island, Dr. Martens completed his rotation at Hammond-Henry Hospital with Dr. Julie Brown.

“I have always liked the culture and work ethic of Hammond-Henry Hospital, and I am dedicated to bettering the health of this community,” said Dr. Martens, who was encouraged by his mother, a surgical nurse, to go into the health field. “I care about the people who come to me, and I feel it’s a privilege to take care of them. There is nothing better as a physician than helping someone attain a positive outcome when they didn’t think that was possible. I’m excited about getting started.”

The Geneseo Clinic is open Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm for family practice and from 7 am to 5:30 pm Monday through Friday for walk-in care. Dr. Martens is currently accepting both pediatric and adult patients by calling 309.944.1275. Again, his open house is slated for Thursday, December 4 from 2 to 4 pm and all interested are welcome and encouraged to attend.
