On Wednesday our new long term care living center was surveyed by the Illinois Department of Public Health.  Once we address a few minor items this week, we will receive permission to occupy our new facility.  Therefore, we have designated Monday, July 11 as moving day!  We have notified our residents, patients and families that we will begin the relocation process shortly after breakfast is served on Monday morning.  Volunteers and junior volunteers are ready to help in the journey.  Our goal is to have everyone moved over by the middle of the afternoon.  We will utilize vans to transport patients, residents AND belonging to the south entrance of the living center.  That south entrance will also serve as the temporary entrance for visitors and families while the south service building is completed over the next few weeks.  Once that building is finished, we will then wait to receive occupancy certification in that building as well.  Our goal is to make that move the first or second week of August.
Getting back to long term care, once the current skilled and extended care buildings are vacant, we will remove numerous fixtures and adaptive devices which will be utilized within our communities by Rebuilding Together.  Once removed we will complete some minor asbestos removal and make way for the total internal demolition of that building, making way for a total makeover scheduled for completion early this winter.
It's an exciting milestone in the progress of this project!
