The picture above shows the framing that has been completed within the long term care building. This area is the future nurse's station that will be located at the 'L' intersection of the two patient/resident wings. The picture below shows the dining room, as the archways and half-walls begin to show. The dining room will face north, toward the new east entrance. It will also be the first area that visitors see as they enter the new facility from the main hallway of the hospital.
Stairs for the second floor of the south service building will be installed this week, making access much easier. Work will also begin this week to enclose the building with permanent walls, replacing some of the plastic enclosure. The roof is still not finished for this area, but a couple of warm sunny days will give sufficient time to finalize that part of the building.
One big hole exists between the two floors, making room for the installation of the therapy pool. We have had significant discussions with the Illinois Department of Public Health to conform to all requirements. We should get final approval within the next 10 days, with delivery of the pool planned for March.
Also, within the next two weeks, work should be nearly complete for the new endoscopy suite. Finishes have started, and once IDPH inspects and approves, the suite should be operational in February.
